Trekking Through History is the newest in the Trekking series from Underdog Games. This is also the most drastic change in the series. Players are drafting cards and generating resources in order to fill their itinerary cards. These cards can generate points and time crystals. When you draft a card, you collect the resources on the card and whatever is below it on the board. You will then place it in your timeline or start a new one if it is earlier than what you have in play. Finally, you'll advance your watch on the clock based on what the card says or you can spend a time crystal to remove 1 hour per crystal. Once all players have passed the 12:00 mark, the round will end and the board resets. This goes on for 3 rounds and whoever has the highest score will win.

The Good: This is my favorite of the Trekking series. I love how it took away some of the more annoying aspects of National Parks and the World (collecting pieces across the board) and streamlined it by simply picking up what's on the card and moving forward. The artwork is fantastic and the facts on the back of every card is a great touch. As a big history fan I love that. This is an easy game to teach but you can complicate it further by adding in Time Warp cards to give additional benefits each round.

The Okay: This is certainly not a heavy game and that's okay. It's a perfect family weight game but if you're someone that is looking for something with more complexity then you may want to look elsewhere.

The Not So Good: At two players, the visit your ancestor cards don't work well. These simply act as a gap in your timeline so more cards will get played and hopefully something better will come out when your turn comes back around. At two though, your turn comes around quickly so there's less chance that will happen.

Final Thoughts: Like I said, this is my favorite of the series. It's a game that I can teach easily and is packed to the brim with history and facts. The components are high quality and the whole game is just a ton of fun to play. I highly recommend Trekking Through History for a family weighted game. It's so much fun.

Thanks to Underdog Games for sending me a review copy.
