Catapult Feud Review

Catapult Feud puts players control of a warring family with the simple objective - knock the other player off their walls. Each player will take their pieces and build a wall using all of their blocks. Then they'll place their pieces on the wall somewhere and from there it's time for war. Each player will take turns loading their catapult and launching it at the other players wall in an attempt to knock over the player pieces. The first to knock them all over wins. Then set up and do it all over again. That's it, that's the game. There's an advanced mode where each player has a hand of cards that they can play to rebuild your wall a bit or attack twice in a row but the core of the game remains the same.

The Good: This is such a fun game to play in a really short period of time. Sure, it's simple and there isn't a ton of depth and strategy to it but it's a ton of fun to try and build up your defense and compete against someone to see who's strongest. The components themselves are really nice as well. The catapults have a nice tension to them and the character pieces have a lot of detail just for them to be brutally murdered by flying boulders.

The Okay: This is a game that almost expects you to get expansions for and there's a bunch. Most of them add new types of ballistics to launch at other players but they also add new type of walls and player pieces to make even bigger castles. The core game is nice but you may get bored and want to expand further.

The Not So Good: This definitely feels like more toy than game. While not a bad thing for some; as mentioned above, there's very little strategy involved. Simply aim, pull, pray. You can bring in the advanced version to have special abilities but the core is still the same.

Final Thoughts: Overall, Catapult Feud isn't going to be the staple of your game night but this is a game that I'm going to hang on to to play with my daughters when they get a little older so they can shoot me with a catapult (let's be honest we're all going to do it at least once). Regardless, it's still a good time. Sometimes you need a light game solely based on destruction, right?
